an attraction
I have been to Canlaon city this weekend. Its weather is just like that of Baguio. During the time of Sec. Alcala, he named Canlaon City as the salad bowl of Visayas. But that was a lip service because not much support was given.
In Canlaon city, in the veggie center choice veggies were priced only for as low as P10/kg (as in Polomolok. (They could also raise flowers)
Other say it is Codcod San Carlos City
The doctor investor who was with me egged me to make a study on cold storage to help the farmers, 40%of the veggie being wasted due to rotting and handling. And so that would be my task to study the feasibility of cold storage. That would involve:
1. knowing the demand and number of farmers who may avail of the cold storage
2. what is the market
3. the logistics, the market of the products: Dumaguete, Bacolod, distances. The supplier I talked to would be involved in the:
1. refrigeration
2. logistics (handling of the veggies to reduce spoilage)
This is a great challenge to me since my knowledge on the subject matter is nil. But knowing this can help us in food security. Securing a place in Canlaon city as cattle farming and veggies would help further the food security. Right now there is much land that is idle.
Better coordinate with the LGU, cooperatives and NGO to push through this project.
