When the world economy: stock markets, financial market collapse, the financial instruments we have: stocks, bonds, CTD, passbooks, will all but be useless. We cant eat them.  Even gold

There are two options:   to depend on the state for assistance (and most likely they will not be able to do anything in view of debased state assets in reserves or currency and or absence of taxpayers to support the govt.  The second options is to go put up a farm, and or contact friends who have farms so that you will have food to eat.

In that respect. PHL is a good place to go in case of financial market and/or economic collapse.

We have not interviewed Bill Gates, or we are not that close but he is one of the smartest guy in the planet (why he is very rich) for having invested that much in farmlands.  When US currency is debased, the guy to whom we run to is the one who produce the food.  Stacks of cash and gold which we can not eat, are nothing -  valueless. But farmlands producing tons of food will be valuable in case of economic crash.

In the 1900, people divested themselves of farmlands which caused them penury.   And now.

If Bill Gates is doing the smartest thing, why shouldnt govts and other rich people do the same

The country could have invested the flood control plunder into food security project.    The state should look for the future of food for the masses  Instead what do the leaders do-  enrich the people.   The goal is not the money or wealth but productivity.  (as the  Scriptures have said)   Having more money in possession is not the goal, but to make money produce more food. Money or gold or any currency are only medium of exchange -  to purchase cap ex to better our lives.  

Currency are debased and lose value:  but having tracts of land planted to rice and corn, having cattle etc is a better alternative now compared to having stacks of cash in your house.  They cant be eaten.
